I work shifts and sometimes I don't want to be disturbed :) I'm new to the world of android coming from a Nokia which will fire up the alarm when the phone is switched off so I've been searching Google Play for an app that will allow me to switch the phone into airplane mode only to read all the reviews and at the end someone says it won't work on the N4 :-!. Anyone found an airplane mode app that'll do the job or got a workaround?

Cheers,

Teig

i am not quite clear with your question but if you are trying to enable/disable airplane mode at certain time you can use app called Tasker.
its very cheap and I bought it to disable 4G when i connect to my wifi router and enable it when i leave home.
I also have profiles to enable gps when i open navigation and disable it for all other apps.
it has millions of options like that.

Sorry if I was unclear, I just want to be able to disable the phone from ringing when I'm asleep then the alarm to go off when I want it to. Does the Tasker allow that? I use the Alarm Clock Extreme app.

Have you tried setting an alarm and then just putting it in airplane mode? Airplane mode does not stop alarms, just data and cell transfer.
I can still get the alarm in airplane mode.

I feel so stupid, it's a new phone, I'm new to android, I couldn't find the airplane mode so went looking round the web. I found someone saying it wasn't standard on the N4 so tried to over-complicate things. :p Sorted.

No worries, it's normal to not understand everything when trying out a new platform :)
