Is there anyway to have the alarm play a song instead of the 8 ****ty sounds it comes with? I can't seem to figure that out. Alternately I guess does anyone use a non stock alarm app? Thanks!

I use Gentle Alarm, which can play anything as an alarm sound. It also has it's own independent volume control from the Android volume.

Lots of features.

You can make an alarm ringtone from any song you want or find one on any of the different online repositories on the net.

Once you do, you need to make a folder named media on the root directory of the phone's SD storage. Inside that folder, make another and call it audio and inside that a final one called alarms.

The resulting directory tree should look like this: root > media > audio > alarms

Move whatever ringtone you want to the alarm folder and it will appear on the list of available sounds on the alarm app where you can choose it to play. I have not tried moving an entire song and don't know if it will work, but you can try.

EDIT: check my previous post on adding custom ringtones to android phones.
