Album Artist Tag in Music Player

I've had my phone for about two weeks now, I've been scouring the internet for a solution to this problem with no success.

The default music player, and subsequently all third party music players, do not sort artists correctly. The player ignored the album artist tag and lists every track artist as a separate artist.

I have tried several of the most popular music players including PlayerPro. I find their editors to be somewhat lacking, only offering to edit the most basic of tags, let alone the Album Artist tag. I did discover that WMP 12 does not handle ID3v2.4 tags correctly. After using several ID3 tag editors at my disposal, I have not noticed any inconsistent tags, or missing tags. I have been unable to determine if the mp3 files, which are described as id3v2.3 (a format that WMP handles correctly), were corrupted at any point by WMP in some sort of conversion from id3v2.4 to id3v2.3. I don't believe this is the case because no other software on my computer accesses the files, so I don't know where any id3v2.4 would come from in the first place. (all tags were originally created by WMP)

I decided the best thing to do would be to run a test with two mp3 files. I removed all tags with mp3tag, a popular tagging program. Starting with a clean slate I gave each track basic tags. Each had the same album name (ALBUM), same album artist (ONEARTIST). They had tracks number 1 and 2 respectively. They were called track1 and track2 with artists artist1 and artist2.

Expected result:
Go to artist view in music player.
See entry for ONEARTIST
See entry for for ALBUM
ALBUM lists track1 and track2 (although in this experiment because there is one album it would go directly to a track listing, ie list track1 and track2)

Actual result:
Go to artist view in music player
See entry for artist1 and artist2
selecting artist1 lists track1
selecting artist2 lists track2

A few quick notes:
- Perhaps I am not using the id3 tag editing software correctly, but they are someone straightforward so I doubt that
- I cannot use KIES because it says it does not support my phone
- Every time I used a third party tag editor or music player directly on the phone, the tags were correct and consistent, but quite often the album artist tag was ommitted. (i believe i ran across one that allowed the tag to be edited but I can't remember which one, but the tag was correct and consistent with the other tracks.)
- I tried using 'doubletwist' to sync music, again, it showed all the correct tags on my computer. In the device view, all the tracks were listed, but I didn't even have the option to view an 'album artist' column, a telling sign. (doubletwist didn't work)

I am at a complete loss at how to fix this problem, I find it unbelievable that android could ignore such an important tag in sorting music.

I am using a rooted phone, I am currently trying to find a way to remove the samsung music player and use the default android player.

Is anyone else having this problem? Does your phone organize compilation albums correctly?

It looks like this was fixed in cyanogenmod, unfortunately it is not yet available for the infuse (if ever)
Perhaps theres a rom for the infuse that has this fixed?

I have this problem, too. Even worse, not only the tags are mixed up (many songs are shown under unknown- all other music software, WMP, Real, Winamp...show the right tags) but also the arts (pic) and lyrics are totally screwed up.
I think we should not try to fix the problem, but go to SAMSUNG and ask for the EXACT technical specifications. I mean, what tags, arts and lyrics format does the I9100 need?
There should be an answer from them and we can just retag our songs correctly.
