All applications crash after cache wipe plus black screen?

[AC Question]

All applications crash after cache wipe plus black screen

I wiped my Samsung G5's cache in an effort to speed it up, and after reset all applications crash (I get Report/OK) button options, and the screen is black. Nothing else is happening. I rebooted, I wiped cache again, and nothing.
The phone is rooted with Android 5.0 on it, touchwiz.
Suggestions?

Are you using a custom recovery to wipe your cache? If you are are you wiping both Dalvik and Cache Partition?

Do you have wipe partition cache?

I have
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache

I chose "wipe cache partition"

It sounds like you did everything correct. Not sure what the issue could be, the only other thing I could recommend is doing a factory data reset. Do you have everything already backed up? Can you plug the phone in to your computer and get the storage to come up?

No I can't connect to its storage.

I've no idea what's happened but it's been crashing apps for an hour now, I think I'll go for a factory reset.
Contacts etc are saved on Google anyway.
Before I reset it though I am thinking of run Odin and see what happens.

You could use ODIN to flash the factory image over the current rom (Dirty Flashing). You won't lose your data, only thing is dirty flashing is iffy most of the time. Easiest and fastest resolution would be factory reset and download all your apps fresh from the market.

I just did that and everything is back to normal.
I'll keep an eye on it to see how it performs.
