Hello i just joined androidcentral.com after months of reading the forums and not registering. I am here to say that i will be getting myself a Droid X and giving my Droid Eris to a family member if any of you are also doing this please don't be afraid to post your thoughts of leaving this old friend, i was one of the lucky ones that got a working Droid Eris mine has never had any problems, considering i bought i for retail price, and so i will miss giving away this old friend. However i am rejoiced at the fact that i will be getting a Droid X soon :)

That's great. I hope you enjoy it. I went from a Motorola Droid back to the Eris. I love the all touch screen and size and weight of the Eris. I think I'm going to keep it.

lol yeah imma get it in about 1-2 weeks, i tried my friends droid inc. and my sisters Droid X they were evenly matched but the Droid X did slightly better

Well, as much as I like the idea of the Eris, I just wish it had been executed a little better. It was a great introduction into the world of Android and I don't regret it one bit, but the lag is what really gets me. I'm looking forward to the size and speed of the X. The Eris will probably now get rooted and played with once I don't have to worry about it being my primary phone.

Well my Droid Eris was rooted with CyanogenEris 1.1 and it ran fast even without the rom. I guess i just got lucky, and also i never got it damaged it doesnt have a single scratch.

I still dont know if I should go with the DInc or X but I am getting one this saturday! Giving my Eris to my aunt and my aunts handing her palm pre plus to my mom. We are all pretty stoked gor the switch.

I just can't get on board with the X, my dad has one and i just can't get the feel for it at all

I made the switch from eris to DX. Best move i've done. The X is soooooo much faster in every aspect. I use pro launcher and a clock widget from the market so i can choose what the clock looks like n how many screens i want. And the big bonus, NO LAG!!!! The eris went to the wife bc she couldn't stand her bb curve no more.........lol.......

Lol i might give my eris to my bro but he doesnt have any money to buy it from me so imma make him pay him monthly, he cant stand his 3 year old blackberry.

A coworker brought in his Droid X at work the other day. I seriously thought that he was handing me a GPS device for his car it was so big. It is H U G E !!
Seriously. Too big it seems to comfortably fit in one's pocket.
Beautiful, but again, wayyy to big for my tastes.

I've made the plunge. I've been using my DX for about a month now and have to say, the speed is very satisfying. LauncherPro+ seems to accelerate the performance for some reason and the included widgets help sooth the loss of HTC Sense widgets. Typing is so much more satisfying with far fewer errors vs the smaller Eris. All that said, I find myself wanting a slightly smaller phone then the DX but bigger then the Eris. The DX is huge but well balanced and thin so it doesn't weigh down in your pocket...but its big and holding it in one hand and navigating around the screen with your thumb like we did with the Eris cannot possibly reach all the screen real estate without repositioning your hand/grip on the DX.

I revisit the deactivated yet charged up Eris from time to time thinking about rooting and making it faster...hmm, perhaps a little late night reading in the forums on how to do that....

I recommend it. I became comfortable with rooting when i got my Droid. After 7 months of owning it, i accidentally dropped it in the toilet and fried the screen. I submitted an insurance claim, but the Droid was on backorder...so i had to settle for the Eris. I still was able to get much more performance out of the Droid, but I'm honestly impressed with Eris..for what it is. The first day I got it, I rooted it, installed KaosFroyo v.34 ROM, overclocked to 748Mhz, and i ditched ADW launcher for Launcher Pro. It's not quite as capable as my 1GHz Droid with Sapphire 1.1.0 and the bigger screen...but i've definitely found a way to make my new Eris tolerable until i can upgrade in February. We'll see what comes out between now and then..but honestly...i think i'm leaning towards the Fascinate over the X. I always assumed i would naturally go the X...but these Galaxy S phones are something else...
