Android Central Question

Hi all,

Really looking for help. I have a Huawei Y7, model: TRT-LX2, EMIO version 5.1.1 and Android version 7.0.

All my media keeps pausing at random, music player, Youtube, video player, radio and podcast apps, Facebook videos, literally everything.

I have Googled the hell out of it and followed all suggestions but nothing works. I've run updates, factory reset, closed background apps, monitored system to see if anything unusual was running whilst the pause happened.

Please help! Any advice really appreciated.

Does it still happen in Safe Mode? The steps for the Y6 ought to work for the Y7: How to turn on safe mode on Huawei Y6. You'll only be able to test preinstalled apps in Safe Mode, but if the problem goes away, that means something you installed is causing the problem. In that case, you'd have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away.

Another thought - does this happen only when you're streaming the content, or does it also happen when you're playing an audio or video file that's on the phone?

My LG G6 has developed a similar problem over the last month, where it will pause music or video playback at random.

It happens with wired and wireless headphones, bluetooth speaker, and without headphones. It happens using the LG Music app, Google Play Music, YouTube, VLC, etc. It can go a few songs without happening or several times a track.

I've removed any apps I've installed in the last few months, but it still does it. I've turned on Ignore Optimisation for any music or video but no luck.

Any ideas?

It doesn't seem to be a phantom touch (I had to Google to find out about it).

It can happen when the screen is off (the screen doesn't come on when it pauses, which I would presume would be a symptom). The phone can be playing a video quite happily and just stop, or I can be reading or browsing and it just stops. I'm not aware of the display changing.

In safe mode, it's fine.

When I come out of safe mode, and forced stop as many apps as I could, and with nothing else running, it still pauses.

I listen to music on my device (on the SD card), but it also happens when I'm streaming videos from a NAS. It happens on any playback app (LG's Music app, Google Play Music, VLC, etc.). I don't stream from the likes of Spotify so I don't know if they do it, but YouTube pauses.

I note that other people reporting this problem are on different devices, and across different apps. Could it be some update to a common app?

It certainly could be some common app, but it can be hard to pinpoint. Force stopping an app doesn't necessarily eliminate it as a culprit, since the app might be restarted automatically by the system at some point without your knowledge. It's more effective to uninstall the app completely, as tedious as that might be.

I've uninstalled a few apps. The only ones that are likely to be common are Google Handwriting input and Ookla Speedtest. I also cleared the all apps' cache (something I should have done from the start).

It's only been a day but so far so good.
