All Note 3 4.4 KitKat owners report in here.

I screwed up big time by updating to Kitkat. The dreaded Android bugs are back. The reason I was staying with iPhone for last 4 years.

Wifi keeps dropping. Screen freezes for couple of mins and then I am forced to restart the phone. And NIL benefits from the update.

I have gotten a resetted fresh phone from Samsung preloaded with Kitkat due to my other issue of Proximity sensor stopped working. That issue is another story.

Hey everyone. I'm not a 'hardcore' phone user so I'm not in the know on all these updates etc and I check this forum occasionally. That said, I did not know about this update until now. I checked my phone (AT&T) and it still says my phone is up to date with the 4.3 system. Anyone know why I don't have the update available? I'm in Austin, TX if that makes a difference. Thanks.

The update has only recently started the rollout on the Note 3 here in North America.
Slowly but surely each carrier will send out the update. Not sure when exactly AT&T will be rolling it out for you.
You could either keep checking back here regularly or just keep it set to automatic on your Note 3 and it will get pushed to you when ready.

I for KitKat on my Sprint Note 3 a few days ago. Overall, it seems OK, but only one of the two major problems I had seems to be solved -- the prevention notification thing is supposed to be removed now, but the unstable WiFi issue seems to remain, which is disappointing. Also, the KitKat update seems to have affected how apps can interact with external memory cards, because ES File Explorer is no longer able to copy files between my computer and phone over WiFi. If I use a USB cable to connect them, copying works fine. There are articles on the web that mention how Google (and Samsung, following suit) changed how SD card access works. I'm sure they have their reasons for it, but it seems to be a user-unfriendly change that I for one do not like. It's inconvenient to have to physically connect devices when I used to be able to transfer files and such over WiFi before. I hope a work-around comes out that does not require root access, but for now, IMO the big problems with KitKat on the Note 3 are the unstable WiFi connection (an old, unresolved issue) and the changes to SD card access (new, not sure if it can be fixed or worked around).

Really. Is that a definite? I record ALL my calls. I will be gutted if KitKat prevents this.

Yes so far. The recording API file is no longer accessible and I think its a Samsung thing only. I emailed the Dev of "ACR recording" app and this is what he said to me,

"Hi there. First of all there is nothing I can do at the moment. Update seem to disable call recording by feeding static audio to call recording api.

I have emailed samsung but as usual no reply. I have wrote to dev forum of samsung and got no reply."

"Ah so it's Samsung problem not Kitkat?"

"Both same. Samsun used to provide support for call recording api but they somehow stopped this with kit kat. No call recording app will work anymore".

Seems to be a lot of confusion over external sd cards with kitkat, stock file manager, all functions supported, ES file manager, good, I have not tried transfers over wifi so can't comment on that...... but, all is not perfect, kitkat has definitely changed external SD card support for at least some third party apps, I use camera fv5, and it can no longer save directly to external storage, l can move the pictures after the fact, but not save directly. Stock camera still works fine.

You can root the phone and put a custom rom that will have the sd card support. Or don't update at all

I lost write access to my card. Really not happy. I have turned off the update feature on my 2 tablets.
