All Note 3 4.4 KitKat owners report in here.

^ I performed a complete wipe with the SD and S.I.M card still inside the device. You have the option under backup and reset-personal data-factory reset. You do not have to wipe the SD card. But as a standard precaution always have your photos, videos, music, etc. backed up somewhere else and use the appropriate Google and Samsung accounts to have the corresponding data backed up there. As for using Kies 3 my personal experience was not trouble free. I connected my Note 3, performed a complete backup, wiped the device, and then attempted a recovery. Some 5 hours later and something like 67 percent it just stopped and closed. Not sure what happened. Plus it just seemed way too long to restore from this method. So I opened Kies 3 again and retrieved my phone, message, and a few other settings data and about an hour later successfuly restored that information. I had my Nova launcher settings restored from a backup within Nova. I then started downloading my applications one at a time again. So all in all it was around a 7 hour process to get my phone fully restored and functioning with 4.4.2. In the end I am very happy to have taken the time to do this. My battery life is better now than with 4.3. I still do get the occasional unstable internet connection message but it remains connected. My GPS has always worked flawlessly. I have AT&T.

I won't bother with Kies restoring then. It does grind to a halt on one item or another occasionally during back ups.
I always drag and drop to copy photos etc to my pc., and can use my Google, Play Store and Samsung accounts to restore most.
I may try it in a few days. Or I may leave well enough alone if it's running OK and leave it for another time.
Not a big deal to do then just irritating and time consuming to get it configured back.
That's a good help, thanks.

Now that the update has been out for a while now. Are there still problems persisting out there?
I was messing around with a friends Note 3 that is on the Rogers Kit Kat build and noticed something. When I went to check out the Ram manager, his was showing 2.71 as the total ram. Mine currently only shows 2.38. Would the KitKat update be freeing up some ram for him? Will the same happen to me whenever I update?

I've had update for about 3 weeks now and it has settled down. No issues and the infamous battery drain has disappeared.

KitKat did indeed free up a little bit of RAM. The amount of 2.71GB is what you should see after you update. No battery drain issues. All is good. Just factory reset and re-install everything for best results. You will notice the increase in battery life after a couple days.

Thanks.

The factory reset is what is putting me off of it right now.

I talked about how my Kies 3 restore went previously and as it did not go so great, I was still able to recover my phone data, texts, and some other application settings from it. I did end up just re-installing a majority of my applications. My pics and videos were already on the micro sd card. Performing the factory wipe and re-install was not as bad as it seems.

Thanks to both for the pointer to more ram. Never knew. Ram was my first question on AC (I was so young!)
I am one of the lucky ones with Kitkat, and I have never done a reset.

Still getting the unstable connection but not nearly as much and usually I can just shut wifi off and turn it back on. Battery life though has been much worse but I'll give it a few days as I rooted it about a week or so after I did the update and have been tinkering with gravity box, xposed and greenify.

I have never messed around with Kies before.
Will it back up all my settings as well? Such as ringers, page layouts app settings, etc? Or is it just contacts and media?

The "theory" behind Kies 3 is that it is supposed to back up your device as a whole....or parts you designate and when selecting restore the device is supposed to make it like you never reset it. Kies 3 is downloaded to your computer. Connect to your device to it for backup and restore. Some have had excellent results but in my case it didn't work as intended. I am not sure why but you can do a complete backup and then selectively restore things such as phone call and text histories and other phone settings. So I didn't lose any of that and I used Nova Launcher to restore all of my page settings and took the time to re-install my applications. Take note that when Nova Launcher restored my page settings the application icon would be there but I had to re-install that actual application. I was okay with that and it helped me remember everything I had downloaded. My media was already on the micro sd card.

Thanks for the info. Might as well give Kies a whirl then. I am using the stock TouchWiz, so hopefully it will restore everything.

Alrighti so I may be among few who are facing problems. My note 3 started stucking on chrome apps. I first throught it might be the double touch of the scover bought from local market. But I am still facing the issue. Really not happy with continuous popups of gallery sign in.

If you are getting 'demands' to agree to Picasa to access the Gallery, which happened to me after I installed KitKat, and you can access your Google Account in General by touching your email (mine had an 'error' for a day); you can untick Picasa if Sync is 'on' in the notification shade.
I have disabled most Google apps including Google+ in Applications Manager.

Since updating my galaxy note 3 to kitkat ( official update using Samsung kies) I have regretted it.
Since the kitkat update I have had to factory reset my phone 4 times. Phone will be working fine then out of nowhere I get a pop up that Android core process has stopped working. Only thing that gets it working again is a factory reset. I even spent a week without any Apps apart from per installed apps on the phone and it still did it.
I do like the phone but it's beginning to be a pain in the ***.
Phone was taken back to Mediamarkt where I purchased it from and they said they would send it back to Samsung service centre for a firmware reset . waste of time. Spending 750.00 euro on a phone that continually needs a factory reset is a joke.

That's disappointing.

Hopefully you can get it sorted out. These phones aren't cheap and in theory should come hassle free!

I totally agree these phones are not cheap, and whilst I accept any product can go wrong, what really is starting to jade my view of Samsung is this is my fourth Android powered Samsung that has proved unreliable.
1st phone Samsung gt-i8500 just died after 12 months
2nd phone Samsung galaxy s2 repaired 3 times. Constantly shutting down and rebooting by itself.. Used to get really hot, eventually motherboard was fried.
3rd phone Samsung galaxy s3. Paint around the edges of the phone ( under the glass) has peeled away revealing a gold colour. Also shutting down and reboot problems.
And finally this note 3 is starting to misbehave, and yes since kitkat update I have random freezes. Cured by a battery pull.
To be totally honest I have had enough of Samsung, I really like their phones when they work but I can't justify spending my hard earned Euro's on hardware that is unreliable

Having major issues getting my non gmail email to sync. AND when I go to my gmail account I get a sync unavailable - will be back shortly. So there is something wrong with sync.

That happened to me day 1 of KK. Well it kept asking me to agree to Picasa, and when I went to accounts I had that error message for about 24 hours. When it cleared I could turn off Picasa in my Google account.
I just got the error again now, strangely. I don't have master Sync on very much, but it has to be on to get the on/off sliders in your Google account settings.
Google seems to turn all account settings back on.

I just hope that Verizon doesn't shove this update down our throats.....

AT&T did it yesterday. I chose not to update and found my phone downloading and restarting!
