All Note 3 4.4 KitKat owners report in here.

I have yet to update to KitKat, not sure I'm going to. My Note3 is running GREAT on JellyBean and I really don't want to mess with a new update that causes more problems than its worth. I thought updates were supposed to improve the performance of a device, not give problems.

Making the right decision. I will not update either. I have yet to see a good reason for me to lose access to my SD card. Some were happy to have the restrictions but I am not. Kit Kat has no functional improvements over Jelly Bean you only lose features. Viva Jelly Bean!

Don't go Kitkat !!

- Vpn over 3g/4g doesn't work
- contact list letters missing L&M
- some apps still crash "candu crush"
- You won't be able to record phone calls by any apps no more.

I don't know about the other stuff, but my phone certainly does have L&M in the contact list.

I have had no problems since upgrading except I had to call verizon to get my voicemail working. Apparently they changed the service classes. The good news is that they added a feature that transcribes my voicemail and delivers it to the phone. Very cool.

Everything else seems to be working as well or better then before and I think I am getting slightly better battery life.

^^^That's an under statement. ^^^

Spence, don't do what I did! Don't update. 4.3 was a great build on the Note 3. Flawless. You would be disappointed with KitKat. The only reason I did it was I thought that free up the accessible ram to 2.71 was going to be worth while. Absolutely not. Doesn't make a difference!

VP - Shame it's still bad. I'll put another dime in and say check the Google account settings. KK turns them all back, on and I had sync errors for a while. I only have Calendar and contacts syncing now. I also disabled Google + completely in App Info, as have other people. In fact most Google stuff is disabled on mine. Even if you use Google + I would try it off for a while.
You possibly know this already.
It seems most people's update gets settled eventually, even if they have to make adjustments to the way they used files and apps. I didn't.
Otherwise as you say that carrier of yours (not heard of) stuffed up. I hope your planned reset might do the trick.

Thanks for the tips Madd.

I ended up doing a factory reset the other day and have noticed some improvements to the problems that I was having before. I went over a week without being able to get a GPS lock at all. That's what finally made me do the reset.
Now I am back to waiting about 2 minutes before getting a lock.

I think that I'm going to wait on the next letter in the Alphabet ..."L" (Lollipop perhaps), and HOPE there's a better update and/or wait on the Note4.....just sayin.

Android 'Lettuce and Tomato' is not going to be as sweet, though it will probably be slimmed down.

Or it might be called Android Lemon, after the devices it's about to destroy.

You gotta ask yourself: do you want to jump, or be pushed?

OK my serious opinion : while I think it will be alright, I don't know which of your uses will be affected more than mine, probably a few.
I haven't noticed a smoother or more battery efficient device.
Yes there was nothing much wrong with 4.3. If you're not eager to check KK out, then hold on.
Maybe Verizon will send out later patches so you might benefit, but it seems like there are no massive issues.
I do believe it will be pushed to you eventually, like in some reports.
If it worries you it might be better to get used to it now, but staying put can't hurt either.
Do you secretly want to see what it's going to change. You might.

S-Note has better features and I think there are some other subtle improvements I noticed.

Pretend it will go well and you're about to try a whole new phone.

I am with you. I hate the all white notification icons.
I wish I didn't update to KitKat, nothing but issues. Screen transitions are jittery; did a factory reset still has it. Pandora works with the screen lock album pictures as mentioned on previous post, but the actual functionality of Pandora sucks! A lot of stuttering. Boohoo Google and Samsung for the upgrade to my Note 3. I wish I could go back to JellyBean. Not sure if I should even try to go to Verizon for help.

Just updated to kitkat earlier today, don't noticed much of a difference except that the battery icon is now solid white. I liked the green and red colors previously is there a way to get that back with kitkat?

I believe so nut requires root.

Firstly, am a little new to forums, have left the odd comment here & there, just wanted to add a comment about 4.4.2... I updated and have had no major problems, don't much like the all white notification symbols but that's not really an issue...one thing that I find odd is that, as now,as I type, in the notification bar it's got a symbol up for the keyboard...I use a.i.type and have it set to default and yet every time I type that keyboard symbol pops up, also not really an issue. The main thing that I wanted to add was that I have a UK sim free note3 n9005 model and after reading all posts it seems to me that the sim free models aren't experiencing any of the problems mentioned by others. Also, I have ALL my auto features turned off, I dunno, I guess I like to feel that I have a little control over what my device does, I did however check for any updates recently and there was indeed a mini software update so maybe samsung fixed a few bugs...I really can't say for sure though as haven't noticed any major changes... Battery life from prior update to now, I don't know, again I can't seem to notice a big difference. Just another note, I haven't done anything to my phone, it's all stock and as it came out of the box. After reading all posts am considering of doing the cache swipe from boot mode but am nervous as am, as others would call it, a total newbie to this world of smartphones, am slowly, ever so slowly learning...first foray into smartphone world was htc wildfire s on contract and then I bought this, the rather nice note3.

I'm nine days into the Verizon version of the KitKat update and I have ZERO problems. My Note3 is running quick and smooth with none of the proplems I have read about (knocking on wood). My battery life is approx 20% better with everything set as it was on JellyBean. I would consider this KitKat update a success on MY Note3.

I am so sick of the horrible battery drainage so decided to do a factory reset. A pain in the a** but hopefully it'll stop the constant battery drain....we'll see

My lock screen is sticking once my phone goes to sleep. Only after kit kat update. Have to restart phone every time this happens to gain access. AT&T have confirmed the issue and replaced the phone and it is still doing the same thing. No apps installed, no settings messed with. AT&T said there is nothing they can do. How in the hell can i be stuck with a phone that doesn't work?

Demand a phone that works. Maybe they will offer you another device

Finally got the OTA for telstra in Australia.
Haven't noticed any major changes. Yet. Except for the icons at the top of the screen.

Looks like other carriers in Australia got it too. About time. Hope the upgrade goes smoothly for you guys.

UK Note 3 owner here and Kit Kat has ruined this phone; the recent update providing no relief. Battery drain is awful and GPS takes over 15 minutes to lock. The phone was a joy to use on JB. I'm not going to factory reset if it doesn't fix GPS issues. So now what? Exchange?

Well standby battery life seems unaffected so far.
Seems to drain slightly quicker when playing games though. (Brave frontier) I might be imagining it though.
Phone reception is roughly 4-5 bars of 3g or 1-2 bars of 4g using telstra in Australia. Wifi is using an apple airport extreme with an airport express in the lounge room for extension and airplay through stereo.
What do you think from the pics?

I've been on 4.4.2 for about 2 weeks now. I wish I hadn't downloaded it! My battery life, now, is HORRIBLE! I have to put on charger about half way thru my day. Right now its 10am where I'm at and ice had my phone off charger since 7am...battery is already down to 75% and I really haven't done much! I've been trying to flash a rom for days and I can not do it! I've followed every direction I can find and still nothing!I have even tried flashing the stock slot because one thing I read said that was the only slot u could use on TWRP...still nothing! Don't do it if u are happy with 4.3!
