I noticed today that all of the pictures and video i have taken with this phone are gone. My camera folder has disappeared from my gallery. Has anyone else have this happened? If i take a pic now. A new folder is created and only those newly taken pics are there.

Maybe it got renamed to DCIM? Are they there?

We're you saving images to internal memory or sd card? If sd card, have you checked to see if the phone is still reading the card?

This is my guess.

Use the files app and search both the SD and Internal storage until you find them. I doubt they are gone.

I do not have an sd card in the phone. I'll try looking for them using the file app.

They are gone. all I see using the file app are downloaded pics and screenshots. Only thing I can think of is I must have deleted the camera folder when I was trying to delete an image. I'm sure I didn't do that but that is all I can think of at the moment. Or did my wife do it??????? Hummmm.

For future safeguards against losing images you can setup Google plus to auto-backup images to your google account. You could also get Dropbox and do the same auto-backup. They both work great and it offers some assurances that you won't loss your important images.

same exact thing happened to me. I still don't have an answer. I did not have an SD card in my new Sprint Galaxy Note 3 and I had about 30 pictures and ...poof..they're gone. I wonder if they disappeared when I was learning my new Gear Watch. called Samsung and sprint and no one has any suggestions other than to look in the SD card, which I don't have now.

I had the same thing happened to me recently. After doing a little research a few had recommend Recuva that you download to your computer. After it installed it did a file search on my SD card (I took my card out and stuck it into the card reader and connected that to my computer). It took a little while but it worked. I was able to recover all but 2 pictures.

Re: All of my pictures are gone (LOST.DIR).

(I also sent this answer here) Just to let you know, the exact same thing happened to me (all my picture disappeared...) They were on my external sd. I realized (after searching folders in my sdcard from my PC) that they are now in a folder named "LOST.DIR" (probably but pictures and videos were renamed (number only) WITHOUT the extension. If you put back .jpg or .mp4 in my case, pictures and video are readable... I don't understand what happened, but maybe it could help other people who lost there pictures and videos. (I'm on Android Gingerbread on a Galaxy player)

The same exact thing just happened to my pictures this morning. I have over 1K of photos I need to rename...but some are videos, how can you tell which is which in order to rename them so they are viewable again? Is there a program that can re-name them automatically?

For the program, I'm sure there is one (suggestions someone?). For the video vs pictures, I would go by filesize... (video = bigger, of course). There is probably a better solution like a program who are able to recognize the file without an extension (I know there were some apps suggested in threads, but paid app).

when i first set up my phone, it suggested setting up auto backup to Dropbox or Google. every photo i take goes to Dropbox so if anything happens, i lose nothing.

OMG The same thing just happened to me! Just went to disneyland and everything is gone!

What is this files app u talk about? I would love to see what is on my SD card but dont know how to do that

Yes, this happened to me yesterday. I've have an Android 8 for about a month. I know I deleted nothing. They were there the day before when I went to load one to my Instagram account. I had only 20 photos and a few videos left and photos that have been downloaded. Hundreds were gone. I don't think you deleted them by accident because I know I didn't. I'd say this is a pretty serious flaw.

Yes! I had this happen today after my phone updated it's software...good thing I have them on a stick, on FB and on my computer....LOL I thought I was safe with GOOGLE but apparently not

Yes!! This also happened to me...I had over 200 pics that all disappeared after my Android updated. This has happened before and they just showed up a few days later so I'm hoping they will show back up. Isn't Google supposed to be a safe place for photos??? Jeeeeeeze!!
