All U.S. Android phones to receive Android 2.1, but some will require a wipe

Thanks for the post, I appreciate it. But, the information is bacically useless. It doesn't have ONE specific (model, carrier, date). The info flies directly in the face of everything else we have ever heard regarding OTA carrier pushed OS updates - specifically, where is this guy getting his data regarding an OS upgrade requires a wipe? And he says, "However, I believe most [updates] will be PC-based". OS updates being PC based, huh? What are we looking to update, Motorola Razrs? Old-school flip phones?

... I am partially to blame. I authored a post way back in August that called into question the G1?s ability to receive future updates. Google eventually found a way to make Donut (Android 1.6) fit on the G1 and I was proven wrong.

Given that start, it's hard to take this as anything but speculation.

There are some articles out there stating that it is nothing more than speculation. In fact, some articles stated not to believe anything you read!

I take all of these articles with a grain of salt. Even though I would love to get the 2.1 update (and appreciate everyone that posts these articles), I'm not gonna believe anything until I see an official announcement from the carriers.

Boy Genius just reporting that the rollout starts tomorrow. 250,000 subscribers at a time.
