Allo and hangout on their way out

Google is getting rid of Allo and Hangout pretty soon. Google is really finding it difficult to find a direct competition to iMessage

To be clear - Hangouts as we know it will CHANGE, it is NOT going away. Hangouts is moving to Hangouts Meet and Hangouts Chat.

They will focus on RCS and Messages by Google.

Let's see if they can be patient and not create another messaging app in a year lol

I was going to say, getting rid of Hangouts would have been odd... Allo, I can understand, but Hangouts has been a thing for some time now.

I thi k it has more to do with fragmentation of Android that no particular messeging app stuck out to the masses.

I'll be perfectly honest, I don't really see the relevancy to what I said. I just thought it would have been weird if they got rid of Hangouts. shrug
