ALLO is out !

I'm using it, but only with the 3 people I've convinced to download it as well. Fun when they all have it and we're using the group function, etc.

But the lack of SMS integration (the SMS-Relay is not what I want) is a no-go for me. I'm still going to keep Textra, because well... I have to for SMS.

Loaded Allo, took a look around and then uninstalled it. Was hoping for much more and it did not deliver.

I installed it yesterday and been using it with limited number of people, as it is new app. For those concerned about privacy, remember that most if not all of us have a google account tied to your phone, so Google already has information about you without the need for Allo.

And now that this is Snowden-disapproved, privacy becomes an even bigger concern (if you agree with the guy, who honestly appeared to have been paid by a competitor to talk trash about a new product) when using Allo.

For me, it's more about the features it's missing than the privacy concerns, but to each their own. Doesn't seem to be off to a great start with 'average joes', just like Google+.

No SMS Support makes this app dead on arrival. Who the hell would want yet another app to text. People are already either on whatsapp or regular texting. I am very disappointed. Now I have hangouts, whatsapp, Facebook messenger and now Allo that family and friends have no interest of installing and using. What the hell?

I got rid of it. It's pointless. Too many apps out there just for messaging. When I travel overseas, I use FB messenger.

I'm finding it more interesting as a preview of Google Assistant than as a messenger myself, really. I tend to think the Allo product was really designed to compete in places where WhatsApp is everyone's big messenger.

I installed it, left it for a few hours and uninstalled it. I just don't see what I need it for...

As much as I dislike whatsapp, no one I know is willing to leave it for Allo. Allo has to support SMS if it's going to have a chance surviving.

Allo seems a little too late to the game... I cant convice my friends to get another messaging app... The assistant is a cool feature but I feel if it doesn't replace hangouts it's not gng anywhere

Here in the US, most people use SMS. I would love to use Allo myself, however not many people who aren't Android lovers, or wanting to try out a new Messaging platform are really open and flexible to use Allo at all. If Allo had SMS Integration, that would be perfect. I understand it can still send a message to the recipient, however, the message still looks weird, and you can't send pictures or videos (MMS). I tried this already and the recipient never got anything which is very frustrating. Right now, I am using Textra because I love the Smoothness, fluidity, and customization of it.
