I went to Best Buy to see for myself how bad/good the screens are. I almost bought the pixel 2 XL but while playing around with it, I saw a burned-in G in the center of the screen. My guess is that the reason is it's a display model. Does anyone who purchased recently have burn-in issues or can you tell me if it's been resolved. If it's fixed, I 'll be joining the community. Thanks in advance.

No issues .. at least on my unit.

Display models are bad. Go look around at other phones and you will see burn in on Samsung ones as well.. They are on for hours and hours a day displaying the same thing.

Thanks for the reassurance guys. Just worried cause all the talk about the screen

The main issue it has a blue tint if off-axis. No doubt on that. Burn in though... Some say they have it but I know a few people w/ Pixel 2 XL phones and no issues so far.

I just don't trust a demo unit for any phone. Not just the Pixel. They run screen on all day displaying the same stuff. That isn't normal use.

Yeah i definitely saw the blue tint. I think I could live with that

At full brightness as well.

No burn in here on my 2XL yet. I saw wicked burn in on a Note 8 at the store, but that's expected for a display model.

I'd also venture forth to say that it is indeed due to the fact that it was a display model. Google is offering a two-year warranty on their phones in the States; so if you indeed buy a 2 XL and something comes up, you're covered!

kinda weird but every time I look at someone using a phone... any phone....I see a bluish tint to their screen.... old phones... new phones.... Android phones... iPhones

Well, to play safe, let's say you should be covered. If the trade-in program has taught me anything, it's that Google's offers are no longer as reliable as the pixels that display them.

I wouldn't put trade in offers in the same category as a warranty.

Demo units always have burn in because they're on for hours each day. I had the same concerns as you have but I jumped and grabbed a Pixel 2 XL last Friday and I love it.

It's not just that. They run on absolute maximum brightness as well.

Maxed out brightness on OLED is awful for longevity since it significantly accelerates the decaying of the organic compounds.
