Alright you lucky Sprint M9 users

It's probably because the Sprint edition was having MAJOR LTE/3G data drops.

And everyone who owned an M9 on Sprint was blowing up the interwebs with bad criticism.

Definitely this. Nine times out of ten a crappy M9 experience was a Sprint experience.

I actually wonder is Data Performance Improvements are unique to Sprint M9's because of the problems or if it is a universal optimization for all carriers

I'm sure the developer units and unlocked will get it at the same time. I hope at least.

Did the sprint update come with the new display settings?

Downloaded it just before a 200 mile road trip. Still had the data connectivity issues, phone was constantly in roaming mode and as for battery improvements? Using the GPS, and Bluetooth, and on a charger, I was at 50 percent by the end of the trip. Very disappointed. Sprint and HTC have really dropped the ball with the M9.

A 200 mile road trip on the Sprint network?? I live in the big city and you can't keep a decent signal. I couldn't imagine traveling away 200 miles. I ditched Sprint a long time go and never looked back.

I live in DC/MD/VA (DMV) area so LTE access on Sprint is not that bad but I've had update for over 24 hrs now and see huge improvement with battery management and gigantic improvement to the overheating issue. I've had to put phone in the freezer for 10 minutes several times because it was too hot to hold! So far, so good!

Don't forget, Sprint phones roam on Verizon CDMA networks.

That is what I was thinking, that they had made such an agreement. That wasn't the case when I was with Sprint. I would suspect that when traveling with no Sprint tower around and connected to a Verizon one, the phone will show roaming, but it shouldn't be an issue, nor incur charges. Also, I would suspect running gps and bluetooth while on the low amps of a car charger, the battery would still get depleted, just at a slow pace. Even with a rapid charger, it is possible to overheat and only charge intermittently.

Sprint and Verizon have had these roaming agreements for years, probably a decade or more. So unless you dropped Sprint because of poor LTE coverage in 2001 (which wasn't possible), it absolutely WAS the case when you were with Sprint.

I am in Allen, Texas which is just N of Dallas. Several times this week my phone gave me the roaming notification in my home area. Never had this problem before. I am with Sprint until October when my contract expires. Sprint in this area is going down hill fast. I will be switching come October. I never have a problem with dropped calls. But the data always drops out and at times I have to use my friend's Verizon phone to do anything on the internet.

I have been with AT&T 13 years now, so it has been that long ago. Around here Sprint is still considered the worst carrier. I know plenty of people who sign up with them because the plans are cheaper and they still offer unlimited data, only to be disappointed. I believe the agreement with Verizon is only when traveling into areas where they don't have coverage, which doesn't help when in a coverage area but the service is subpar.

Is it possible?
My hotspot is now blazing fast in this cafe where I've always fought for a signal in.
