alternative cable for my lg nexus 4

hello world. I am a little desperate so if anyone else has posted the same thread, cut me some slack.
i forgot my charger/cable back in holland and i wont be getting back there for a long time.
for the time being I charge my LG nexus 4 with my old htc explorer cable. it seems to be charging perfectly.
can i use this cable safely or will it damage my battery?

You should be able to use that cable without any worries. I've used a multitude of different chargers on many different phones and as long as the charger has the correct voltage/amps you should be fine!
