Android Central Question
My S8 updated today and I no longer see the option to add a background to the always on display? Was this removed?
The Oreo update.What update?
Me personally I just like looking at my face in the middle of the night on my aod screen. LolWhy would you want a background on there? The whole idea of the aod is that it uses minimal screen pixels to show minimal info, thereby saving battery life and avoid walking the phone just to check the time..
It's just a simple faint graphic that is barely bigger than what the time and info under it takes up. You could only pick from a limited set of graphics. Why would you want a background on there? Not anymore. Nothing for the background. It's under settings in the lockscreen and security. Click clock and facewidgets. Then click change clock style. It's under there.
That's also where you can change the lockscreen clock. I know a few people were having meltdowns over that. Lol
So you're talking about changing the actual background and not just the spot where you add the picture? If so I wasn't aware that was an option before the update. Not anymore. Nothing for the background.
The lockscreen clock does finally get some style options, including changing the old stacked look that many around here complained about.
Oh yeah. I didn't use the background feature so I'd forgotten all about it. SorryIt was like this.

There wasn't many options, and themes could add to them, but I liked to use them. It's that "background" button that's missing now.

That option is no longer there after the Oreo update.
