Always On display Brightness

Is the Always On display brightness controllable separately to the normal display?
The always on display is a feature I find almost essential.
Unfortunately it drains the battery at almost twice the rate and barely gives me a full day of use which is not acceptable.
The Always on display is currently quite bright and dimming it would surely help the battery.
As I don't think there is currently a fix, how about adding a feature request sticky to highlight customer requests in case the developers read this forum?

Try different watch faces. They all have different always on displays and many self dim within a short period of time. I have found many that have very little impact on the battery.

brighness control would be great though....someday...
