Always-On Display keeps turning off...

[Android Central Question]

Hi guys,

I have tries quite many things, but at night, my always on display keeps turning off after few seconds - which I dont want.

What I have:
Xiaomi Mi 10, Android 11, MiUI 12.5.2 - Original, Not Rooted.

What I tried:
Battery Optimization and Ultra Battery Optimization is turned off
Digital Wellbeing should not turn off always on display.
Removed and updated Digital Wellbeing app
Plugged the mobile to electricity overnight

And still always on is turning off.
I am quite "desperate" . Can you help please? Is it turning off for you? What can I try more?

I could assume that you've looked through your AOD settings but I won't. AOD usually has many settings including a schedule that can be set that defines how and when it is active. Since you say this happens at night specifically I might again assume that it isn't happening throughout the day. Which would lead me to believe that it is operating on a schedule for being active during daytime hours. This may even be a default schedule as many people do not want the light on while attempting to rest.


While much less likely, when you were checking battery optimization and the other settings did you also check to see if the app appears in your sleeping apps list? I hear Xiaomi has one of the more aggressive UI's when it comes to putting apps to sleep. This is just something to check since you've already mentioned that this happens at night but have not mentioned it happening during daytime hours. What makes it unlikely is that if it appears in the sleeping apps it wouldn't matter what time of day, or night, it was the behavior would be the same. It cannot hurt to verify though.
