It's probably a dumb question but does the Always on Display shift position periodically or is it relying on the way it kinda dims itself after a bit to fight against burn in? I really want to use the feature it's one of my favorite things AMOLED displays can offer.

Quick search led to this:

"Google decided to take a more subtle approach with the Pixel 2’s implementation. Instead of moving completely, the content simply shifts by “at most” a pixel whenever the minute changes. It’s very likely that you’ll never even notice that it’s happening."

I don't think you have to worry about the AOD causing burn in.

If you also watch the AoD it will flicker every second or two to combat burn in

Thank you for this information! I was wondering whether or not the Pixel 2 line had AOD or not - this answered my question! Thank you!

it definitely moves around...I notice when it's off center, can't actually see it move tho.
