Hands on reviews have not mentioned anything, wondering if OP have added this for the 6?

Well that is a showstopper for me. There are too many devices that have an AOD now to need to consider one without it especially when you add in no wireless charging, expandable storage or IP rating too.

Shame as there is a lot to like….

HTC U12 might be a good alternative? Super LCD screen instead of OLED but it has a good Always On Display, Double tap to wake, ip68 etc too, cameras will be good also. Looks a pretty solid alternative to a Pixel etc.

No wireless charging either though

The U12 is definitely on my radar. I am happy to forgo one of the features just not all of them.

I'm watching that one too. I am kind of itching for a big screen again after a few months of this Pixel 2.

The OP6 has AOD, I have tried the phone and can confirm this

Are you absolutely sure it can be on ALWAYS? I was pretty certain it only activates when you raise the phone, use a hand gesture or a notification came in then went off again?

Ambient Display is NOT AOD.
The video abovr posted already confirms this and even shows the ambient display settings.
There is an option to choose between Ambient Display and Always On Display. As I said before, I have tried the phone and know this.

How come there's been zero people showing this in hands on or unboxing videos, only you saying it has it?

Someone on Reddit who claims to be a blogger and has the phone, says it does not have aod, just ambient display. See how easy it is to make statements on the internet

Luckily I'm actually a dragon that can see through the internet into people's minds to see if they are telling the truth.

Also, i tame lions.

And I've got a bike that's way better than yours, but I have to keep it at my dad's place.

Yes, the U12 would be a great choice. Heck, I even thought the U11 was a great choice (still is, of course)!

Just unboxing my OP6 now. Maybe this was covered already, but there absolutely IS an always on display option in the ambient display settings.

Update... Welp, so much for that. Did a software update out of the box and that option is gone.

Seems it was removed due to battery concerns. Did anybody actually use it for any period of time before the update to verify if it is a battery hog or not?
