Always on display

Just upgraded to the S10e from the S8. When I pick up the phone the always on display goes away and the lock screen shows. I would like the always on screen to stay on until I press the power button. Is this possible? My S8 was that way. I can't find setting to do this.

Hi go to settings>lock screen> scroll to AOD choose tap to show,schedule,always on

I have have it set to "show always", but when I pick it up, the lock screen comes up asking for "fingerprint to unlock".

That's normal security feature when you have fingerprint for lock option

It will stay locked until you authenticate your fingerprint or put password.

Look in the display settings and turn on accidental touch protection.

I can't find it now but I swear there was a setting that woke the phone up when you picked it up.

Yup, that's the one. Just turn it off. In any case it will revert to the AOD after a few seconds if you don't unlock it.
