Always-on OK Google not always turning on the screen

Always-on OK Google is awesome, but for some reason it only turns on the screen about half the time for me.

When it doesn't turn the screen on, it still listens and reacts to commands though, but without the screen on I can't see what it's doing so I still have to manually press the power button to turn on the screen to see the results, effectively defeating the purpose of having it always on (for hands-free operations).

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Is there a solution?

My screen has never turned on using okay Google I would like to call using hands-free but without the screen coming on it will not call I can get answers to my questions with the screen off but no call The screen did go on when I have the fingerprint sensor activated but then I had to still touch the phone no hands-free calling

Mine works only like 30% of the time when the screen is off. The damn thing doesn't even wake up or listens to me. As soon as i unlock and say ok google, there she comes back. Frustrating and renders the "always listening" feature useless.

I turned it back off. Too many issues. My moto okay Google now worked flawlessly.
