I got the Note9 on preorder and while I think it is probably the best or at least one of the best Samsung phones beside the S9+, I’m thinking of returning it and getting the S9+. The Note9 is a HUGE phone and I can use the SPen for notes, but I’ve had a note before and that doesn’t last long. Anyway, for those who have the S9+, do you think it’s right on par with the Note9? Do you love it? Any drawbacks about battery or lag? By specs other than the SPen and battery it looks like it is right there with the Note9 and it’s a bit smaller in form factor. Feedback and thoughts welcome.

I cant say about the note 9, but my s9plus is a beast! I use always on display, samsung pay, the samsung apps, and also bixby, I just love the build quality of this phone. Recently I saw a video on jerryrigseverything youtube chanel that the note 9 may have some buttons falling apart. Anyway, its my opinion, I have many apps installed and I have a 24 hours of batery. I just think that the note 9 doestn worth the price for those who already have a S9+ or even a S9. This phones are amazing! Is just a matter of how much can you spend on your device.

Same here..
Came from Note 5 & 7 ..
I don't miss S pen at all .
S9+ has everything I need .
Happy with it .. :)

Aside from the S Pen and the battery, I would only upgrade to the Note 9 if I got a good deal for the 8GB/512GB version. Even though my S9+ (and everyone's, for that matter) has 6GB RAM, I consistently find my usage to leave less than 1GB free, so I think I can probably get even more performance out of my device with another 2GB of RAM. Not to mention, 512GB of storage means I never have to worry about deleting files till I retire!

The only reason i didnt get the Note 9 is because my previous phone the Note 8 has dust and dirt gathering inside the S Pen chamber... It is almost impossible to clean it unless i tear the phone apart. But that is me... I have OCD.

I dont really care if it had 8GB ram and 512GB rom because even without buying it i know it wont last long because of the dust and dirt issue...

wow, i didnt know that. its IP68 rigth? Have you tried just cleaning whit water? I assume the water resistance also works when the s pen is out.

He's not OCD, he's paranoid. Unless he is in an environment that is really nasty any dust will not affect anything.
I have a note 8 tablet, 2012, that I took apart to replace the battery last year. The pen hole is completely open when the cover is off and clearly visible, no ip rating whatsoever, and not nearly as tight build. There was almost no wear or dirt. And what type of tool is used for looking into the whole, it's tiny. If you cram something down there to clean it, don't, you might get some residue, mostly oils from your skin or possibly manufacturing.

No lag whatsoever. S9+ battery life is very good, except when always on display is used--then it sucks. Display quality is incredible.

I signed up for a Samsung account for one reason: Samsung Pay. Works everywhere. Otherwise, I stick with Google. I have no need for Samsung anything else. I thought I'd try Bixby, but the end user agreement turned me off. And frankly, I would probably be just as happy ignoring Samsung Pay as well, and just stick completely with Google.

What exatly in the user agreement made you dont use bixby? I use always on display on minimum bright so I dont see any diference in the battery life.

If you don't really use the s pen, then the s9 plus is just as good and a bit cheaper.

Erm... I am so OCD i make sure my phone is dust free... Iike literally. I dont touch the buttons either. I keep my phones in a Sirui Drybox at night.

Wow, youre talking like youre my childhood friend. Lol. I live in Jakarta, Indonesia. Very dusty.

Fyi, OCD is obsessive compulsive disorder. And i also have OCD which is Obsessive Cleaning Disorder. I do that to my phones, laptop and car.

I'm talking like someone who is sick of a LOT of people saying they are OCD because of some random nuisance they don't like. If you truly are OCD, that sucks, I have a friend who is. It is a ****ty disorder and it bugs me when people keep stating they have it because the holes don't line up on the bottom of a phone.

Of all the years I have been around the notes and samsung forums I cannot recall a single time where dirt got into an s pen hole, with the pen inserted. My first note was the 2. I still own a note 8 and 10.1.
I work on a jobsite, dirt, sawdust, concrete dust everywhere. Never had an issue.

Yes it sucks real bad. This is in fact my 2nd S9+... The first one had buttons which arent clicky(even tough i dont touch my buttons) but it had to be perfect. And current S9+ is pristine in all aspects...

Upgraded from my S8 to the S9+ three weeks ago. The S8 was initially laggy and afflicted with weekly random reboots and apps just closing for no reason, but became extremely stable when updated to Oreo. The S9+ has been rock solid stable and smooth as silk from the beginning. No lag, no random reboots, nothing bad at all. Can't comment on the battery life since my phone sits on a charging dock most of the day at work and I haven't had a day out where I've been away from a charger for too long.

The bigger screen is (for me) just the right size where the S8 was just a bit too narrow and felt like I had to scroll too much because so little text would fit on it. The S9+ still fits in my pants pockets just fine and can be used one-handed by me 90% of the time - about the same as the s8. If you don't need the s-pen, the s9+ should be a cheaper and almost 1-1 substitute for the note 9.

Sorry to hear that. Im stuggling with anxiety disorder and I kinda understand your situation. Im happy whit my S9+, but I just wonder how does it feel to draw with the s pen.
