I got the Note9 on preorder and while I think it is probably the best or at least one of the best Samsung phones beside the S9+, I’m thinking of returning it and getting the S9+. The Note9 is a HUGE phone and I can use the SPen for notes, but I’ve had a note before and that doesn’t last long. Anyway, I am struggling a little with the size as I have the iPhone X (much more manageable) for my personal phone and the Note is for business. I don’t see how I will need the Spen for notes and used as a remote for business (although I still play with it at home when the iPhone bores me as it often does). My dilemma is that the Note9 is an awesome phone and I don’t want to downgrade and regret it. I ordered an S9+ and it’s processing and it’s $100 off right now and I got another $70 knocked off when I tried to cancel last night when I was waffling. Anyway, am I crazy for giving up the Note?

you are probably not using the stylus to it's potential. did you know if you write a phone number, website, or email address down in a note you can access what you wrote ie. dial that phone number, access that webpage, or email that person, DIRECTLY from that note? I also use it to clip info and send out as text message or in an email.

Personally, I don't like the curves on the S screens. I like the boxier look of the Note screens. Also, since you're coming from a smaller screen, it might seem huge at first. However, it's pretty compact in size in relation to how much screen you get. Yes, other phones now have even more screen to body ratio. Most of those are 1080p, a notch or just don't compare to the screen quality of the Notes.

Look at the differences. Besides the 0.2 inch larger size, S-pen and the larger battery, there are the awesome stereo speakers. If these differences aren't a deciding factor then I guess the S9+ will do.

I honestly think you'll get used to the size a lot sooner than you think.
My sister purchased the S9, and after about a month or so, she had buyer's remorse because she didn't purchase the larger S9+. Her reason initially was that she thought it was "huge" coming from an S4.

I'm a NOTE person through and through so it's not even a debate.
Either way, you have an awesome phone.

Why are you asking us if you are crazy? They make all kinds of different phones because what I like may not be what you like. Choose the phone that suits you best. No one should think you are crazy (or even CARE) if you prefer something else. Go for it.

I just upgraded from the S9+ and the 3mm size increase doesn't make much of a difference to me. I actually feel like the Note is a bit easier to move around on, but that could just be the honeymoon phase. Bottom line is they are both gigantic phones and with the exception of the S-Pen, nearly identical hardware. Nothing crazy about your decision though, as others have said they make different configurations for that exact reason. Find one you are comfortable using and don't worry about what anyone on the Internets says about it! Oh, and there's never anything wrong with saving few bucks!

Cheers

My first Note felt massive, I didn't think I would use the s-pen, etc. But after using it, I knew I'd never turn back. I started using it to its fullest potential, I started to realize I could read so much more per page, see photos better, watch videos more easily, sign PDFs for work on the go, multi task easily, jot down info quickly, navigate Excel documents on a phone when it was previously a bad joke, etc. I never looked back, except for the Note 7 fiasco. Anyway, it only took me maybe a week of use to recognize I had made the right choice. Now the massive size is one major appeal to me, not a burden.

If you're already convinced it was a mistake, get the other phone and save some money. Not every line is right for every person. Kind of how I know the S10 will be a huge release and yet I'll pass and wait for the Note 10 before I upgrade again. To each their own. There's nothing bad about the S line, I think both just appeal to a slightly different audience. Still a great flagship phone.

how did you learn all of this? And how does it make watch videos more easily?

I cancelled the S9+. I think I'd regret going with an inferior phone and I'm going to get to know more about the SPen. Any good resources or tutorials you'd recommend?

The Note9 has a larger battery than the S9+ and more RAM (if you purchased the 8GB version). If you don't need those, then grab the S9+. I had the S9+ and the battery life was terrible.
