Am I in the minority?

I shied away from all of this noise until we found the screen burn (still not convinced it's regular OLED burn-in nor Image retention, because it acts like both at once). Had i wrote anything it would have been:

The Pixel XL uses a GB<>rb subpixel layout. White is all extra blue brightness and if you tilt your phone while it's drawing a light color it will have a blue haze instead of the yellow haze the Note 8 and GS 8 with a double green subpixel layout have. Yellow doesn't stand out as much against bright colors. Samsung is smart. Samsung is also better at QC and phones with a bad tiniting problem get rejected or used in budget models
Looks like my theory that the LG display has larger or more blue subpixels seems to hold up

The screen is grainy like an older Samsung OLED screen is when you disable any system-wide color management. LG is behind when it comes to screen tech. They'll get better because Apple and Google want to drop Samsung as their sole display provider and have injected over a billion dollars into LGDisplay. Google should have see this coming and provided a saturated mode to satisfy people.

If your phone has bands of red, green or blue color, return it. Your **** is busted.

If your phone shows signs of burn-in, return it. Your **** is busted.

If your phone looks OK to you, ignore what anyone else has to say because it's your money, not theirs.

Thanks Jerry...great explanation

Yup! My phone is doing fine so far. Even the bluish tint isn't that extreme on mine.

The bluish tint is NOT a THING - it's what the screen does when you tilt it...if I tilt my OG Pxl, it goes "grayish" because, duh - it's at an angle. I wish these stupid complaints would die in a fire. :P

Depends

Some 2 XLs shift pretty early on while others don’t until at an extreme

I forget, how long do we have to claim a warranty replacement? I have some pretty decent burn in on my OGPXL (which I did NOT notice until TODAY - if that tells you anything.. I'm apparently oblivious to it) - just wondering if I would have been able to exchange it.

Call Google no matter how long it has been. Right now, while everyone is running around screaming BURN-IN OMGOMGOMG with the 2XL would be a really great time to mention it :)

I have the Pixel 2 in black. No clicking, no whining, no blue screen, and the notification light works! Awesome phone! Absolutely NO complaints! Great job Google!

I am happy with my XL2. Much improved over my original Pixel. The early concerns with screen issues may have merit, but I've not experienced any symptoms on my phone at this time. However, on my original XL I did experience ghosting, so I'll be keeping a close eye on my XL2.
Google does have a one year warranty covering materials and workmanship so I'm in no hurry to "Jump ship" at this time.
As a former Note 2, 4, 5 & 7 owner, I believe the XL2 is every bit as solid a phone as the Notes, and as a bonus, we have no bloatware and are running pure android.
Sweet.

Agree. Mine will be here tomorrow. I'm sure I will feel the same way.

As I said in another thread. The OG XL had really bad screen burn...but nobody ever mentioned it.

and funny enough, I've had my OGXL for a year and never noticed the burn until TODAY. I actually thought it was a faint "reminder" of where to tap on the screen for the buttons, LOL!

I can live with the blue tinting. It shouldn't be there but it's not that distracting. Unless the burn-in becomes an actual issue, right now I'm not really seeing any. I've only had the phone for one day though.

My only real complaint is the sRGB. Coming from a Nexus 6P where the screen was already kind of dull, this thing is so strange looking when compared to it.

I'd like the option to control my own color balancing. Even my N6P in sRGB mode has more vibrant colors.

wow more high end phones are all F'd up, hmmmmm guess its more than just Blackberry with early issues

Its all the made in china crap i dont care how expensive items are they are all still made in china and crap

Make it in AMERICA

Everyone seems to be assuming that if they experience burn-in on their 2 XL that Google will honor a warranty return. The likelihood is that they will say burn-in is natural and it doesn't trigger a replacement. I know two people that Google refused in this situation with the OG XL. You might be on your own here.

But you can always break the screen and get it fixed with
Preferred Care.
