is it me or does it sound like the rumored specs identical to the Bionic. 4.3" QHD screen, Tegra2, possible 4g. even if it is not 4g, why? why would anyone want to buy a 3g version of a 4g phone. the only possibility is that this is a sign that they will definitely be charging premium for 4g service and this would be for people who arent interested. that is hard for me to believe that it would be more cost effective to have 2 models of same phone vs, just locking out 4g service for clients that dont want to pay.

How do you figure they'd charge a premium for 4G service? It's actually CHEAPER.

A random 3G aircard on Verizon will cost you $59 for 5GB of data.

Either 4G aircard they have, the LG or the Pantech, will cost you $50 for 5GB of data.

Who knows if they'll apply this to their phones, but as of right now, their 4G service costs less because they want to offload people from 3G to 4G, and are trying to do it as fast as possible for the iPhone.

thats why im asking the question, why would it make sense to build and sell 2 virtually identical phones with the only possible difference 3G/4G

The DX2 seems like an interesting device. The DX is a great phone and the Bionic seems like it can be a very good phone.
Since it looks like VZW will have a different pricing plan for 4G phones it may make sense if the Droid X 2 (AKA: Daytona) may be the 3G alternative for those that will not be getting 4G for a while with VZW.

Have you ever thought of the people who don't have 4g in their area? I know I wouldn't buy a 4g phoneif there wasn't 4g near me. Why not release the same phone without a 4g radio for those people?

4G will fall back to 3G.. so why continue to make 3G phones? buying a 4G device only futureproof's your purchases..

It will fall back but as I pointed out, it appears at this time that VZW will charge extra for 4G like Sprint did at first until they decided to charge everyone the exta $10

If this is true, I would rather only have a 3G phone and pay only for 3G instead of having a 4G phone, only get 3G anyways but still have to pay for 4G.

Well a few verizon reps said that the 4g and 3g prices are the same don't know how true that is but it would be great

I mentioned this in another thread, 4G is cheaper *right now* than 3G data plans.

Minus discounts and on a corporate plan,

3G = $59
4G = $50

I truely hope so. If they made an entire marketing push with their 4G costing LESS than their 3G, they could make a ton of people convert and upgrade. But I doubt it. Would be great if VZW makes me eat my words though.
