Am I right....or am I being paranoid? HTC One sound issue

Hello AC,
I've had my 32gb black HTC One for about a week now. I've been loving it ever since, especially the HTC zoe. Just yesterday I synced some MP3s onto the phone and decided to try the earphones for the first time. So after connecting the earphone, I opened the phone's music player app and selected a song to play. The beginning second or 2 seconds of the song was extremely loud as if it was full volume...then the volume just reduced to a lower level which required me to increase it till I got that 'ear damage' warning. The volume seemed fine again after increasing it. My issue is what might have caused this.....was the earphone supposed to be that loud on first play? or has there been a defect in the phone's sound/speaker quality after the volume leveling down? This is my first time experiencing this.
I know of phones that automatically lower their volumes when an earphone is inserted....but my htc one was loud for the first 2 seconds before leveling down. However, i remember the volume of the phone's speakers may have been turned to full volume before the earphone was inserted. could that be the cause? Using the earphone afterwards seems fine, like a good earphone...but I don't know if that is the actual sound quality. Is it possible the phones sound or speaker quality has been affected? If anything is to be affected...is it going to be the phone or the earphone? Thanks for reading.

If the volume prior to putting the earphones was at full strength before plugging them in then yes I could see the phone needing a second to register earphones were plugged in then decrease the volume a little bit.

The only speaker issue I have heard of about the One is the actual grills falling off when dropped. I have not heard of any volume issues like that to be honest. I hope you enjoy the phone, it is a great phone. I went with the S4 myself but certainly can't/won't bash the One because it is a great Android phone too.
