Am I the only one not in love with the camera?

The Nexus 6P camera is just as good or better than the competition. Google can finally say they have a Android phone that's good.

Well... not just good, great. It stands shoulder to shoulder to all the others... It's to the point where if you get a bad picture, it's YOUR fault, not the phone. :) No offense... I mean, I am not a professional photographer, and I've botched my fair share of pictures. But a camera, any camera, can only take as good a picture as the person behind it is capable of. You might have a Hasselblad hanging around your neck, but you might still completely blow a shot if you are a hamfisted schmoo (like yours truly).

With the 6P, the Nexus line finally reached the point where it won't stand in your way, nor will you have to work around any shortcomings, to get a pretty nice picture. Granted, every one of these phones pale in comparison to a decent DSLR, or even a decent compact... but unless you are looking to put your pictorial on the cover of TIME or plan to blow it up to a 6-foot portrait, you'll get what you want out of it.

The one thing I would complain about is the slow focus/slow reaction when I click to take the picture, A LOT of the pictures I take is useless because someone happened to move ever so slightly and thats that. I come from an iPhone 6 and I can't recall having this much problems.

I love the camera of my nexus 6p but the interface sucks. Nothing much to do quite boring to customization

Well, there's always 3rd party cameras. Manual Camera, Pro Shot, Camera FV-5... tons of apps with all manners of manual controls and tweaks. Though, to be honest, 95% of the time, the Google Camera is more than enough to get the job done for what I've shot. And most of what those other apps can do with the picture can be done in post with a decent editor. I have just about every camera app installed that is worth its salt, and I don't really touch all those advanced modes much.

I'll give Google credit... the Google Camera of today is lightyears beyond what it was when they first dropped it. They are still a bit too stingy on features, especially ones that can access the camera2 api stuff, but I suspect that is as much to avoid backwards compatibility issues than anything else.

I love the camera. Colors are very accurate when I look at them on my desktop. Compared to my Canon 60D, colors are very similar. If you want the colors to pop like the Samsung, just adjust the saturation and vibrance slightly on a photo editing app and it will be the same. Looks to me like software adjustment is all it needs.

Snapseed is a good and free app that does a great job with editing. Give it a shot and see how it works. Just adjust those settings and those photos will pop. Also in Snapseed, Vibrance is labeled as Ambiance.

I'm quite happy with my little Lumia. I'd love to have a Lumia 950 XL, Nexus 6P, or LG V10 but the money just isn't there right now. Besides, this camera is pretty amazing, especially for the price I paid for it (next to nothing). And the camera application design is by far the most intuitive, beautiful camera application I've ever used.

Nexus 6P and Loving It!

I like the quality of the 6p camera. I don't judge too harshly on it though since I have an Olympus/Canon/Nikon for when I really want to take pictures.

This is true - Apple's most recent shooters are usually quicker to focus and snap a pic. Samsung's most recent camera's are also a bit quicker (and about on par with Apple). When people say the N6 camera is as good or better they are referring to image quality. I don't think the N6 is horrible at either focus speed or shutter speed, but it does lag a little behind here.

Yep. For camera discussions, I believe that context is important.

I have 2 children - ages 4 and 1 - and they don't stand still for anyone very long, so I need a camera that can take a good picture quickly. That is why I still have my iPhone 6s Plus. Because it is good at that.

From what I hear, the 6P can't take a good picture quickly, so my needs are not met by the 6p camera. I'm sure that the 6P can take great shots (better than the iPhone and others) if you have time to set-up the shot, but I do not. That's why context in this discussion is important.

That's pretty much why I'm still using my 6s Plus too. Kids. I don't take many pictures of landscapes and architecture. All of my pics and videos are of my 13 year old and my 3 year old. The 3 year old, as you can imagine, doesn't stand still for long. I need something that can snap a pic every time when I want. The 6P isn't that phone. And the video on this thing is incredible. The 6P doesn't match it there. The 6P has a great camera. At least a Nexus is finally in the talk with the big boys. But for me, I can't trust it when it comes to pictures and videos of my kids.

I got lost here. Because of the "this" and the "it." Is "this thing" the 6P or the 6S+? Though I do get your point about trying to track toddlers in timespace!

At the beginning of my post I referenced that I was using the 6s Plus. "I need something that can snap a pic every time when I want. The 6P isn't that phone. And the video on this thing is incredible. The 6P doesn't match it there." The bold part is stating why I didn't like the 6P camera compared to the the 6s Plus. "[T[his thing" refers to the 6s Plus - I figured saying that the 6P doesn't match it a reader would realize I wasn't meaning that the video on the 6P was incredible. It's very good for a Nexus, but not as good as other options out there.
