Am I the only one worried about the Nexus 6 thickness?

Re: Am I the only one worried about the nexus 6 thickness?

I thought you had already decided on the Note. Still working it out?.
Haha, caught! Yes...I even got in the car to go buy the Note 4, but turned around. I just couldn't do it. I have never had a Nexus and I'm going to wait and see. I'm really a hardware gal, which is why I've love the Note series. However, the draw of fast updates and not having to constantly turn off addons or ignore... oh, hell, you know what I mean about Samsung and carriers stuff.

Re: Am I the only one worried about the nexus 6 thickness?

ive held the x and it feels fine. so im not really worried. and im not sure what worrying about thickness has to do with battery size. either way, if its anything like the x, which it clearly is a larger replica, theres nothing to worry about.

That and people are acting like an extra mm or so is another inch in thickness.

Re: Am I the only one worried about the nexus 6 thickness?

The Moto X is also 10mm at its thickest point. The thickest section is towards the top where the camera is. Granted, it's not as large as the Nexus 6, but the X has been getting praised for its great in hand feel. Don't let the thickness deter you. Especially with the 6 Plus having to deal with bendgate for being too thin

Sent from my LG G3
You don't get it do you? Bendgate has been blown WAY out of proportion.

Re: Am I the only one worried about the nexus 6 thickness?

It's eleven hundredths of an inch thicker than an iPhone 6 plus. Quit being ridiculous.

Having said that, from holding the 6+ it feels amazing so easy to hod and I doubt the Nexus 6 will be THAT comfortable.

Re: Am I the only one worried about the nexus 6 thickness?

How much of you hold your phone close to your head while making a call. I think 90% of us use a BT to handle our calls. Not concerned about measures at all, just about performance, and this will be the holly cow of the smartphones.

:p

That's weird because I rarely see anyone use BT anymore. And I work in a busy grocery store and see tons of people on cell phones.

Re: Am I the only one worried about the nexus 6 thickness?

For such a bug, thick phone, it has a tiny battery. Droid Turbo, G2, G3, many other phones, all have bigger batteries as a percentage of chassis size.

One reason could be the large number of LTE bands that the N6 supports. More bands = more antennas, especially with LTE, which uses MIMO and in increasingly higher orders. More bands also = more power amplifiers and other RF components.

It's possible to shrink that stuff, such as by using single-structure active antenna systems, but doing so comes at a price that has to be reflected in the N6's retail price. It will be interesting to see what the tear-downs reveal.

Re: Am I the only one worried about the nexus 6 thickness?

I know this phone will be great for me. First Motorola built. Can't beat the radios, reception, and build quality. Been waiting for a Moto Nexus and finally getting one. 6" screen is great for me. I am not worried about the thickness as if that was needed to get all this awesome hardware in it, that is good with me. And the back being curved is just asking to feel right at home in the palm of my hand. I have a Ford so I have the sync system. I never take my phone out of my pocket in my car. I can use the sync for texts and phone calls. Besides I refuse to text and drive, but that is just me. I use the speakerphone in my phone and only use the phone to my head rarely and briefly. Lollipop seems to be a great new version as the more we find out, the more I like. This is painful watching bits and pieces drop about this phone and lollipop day by day. Very excited for this phone. I am thinking I will own this one for awhile.

Oh this IS the droid I've been looking for...

I rarely talk on the phone to start with... I average 60 - 80 minutes a month... 90%+ of my usage is data.... Text & web..... Like you I use my BT in the car and speaker phone when I am on the phone... Very rarely do I actually hold my phone to my ear and talk.....

I do text and drive though... Shame on me... Not a lot.. I usually do get frustrated when people are texting me after I say "Hey I am driving right now" and I usually do try and limited it to stop lights and stop signs....... I've even pulled over more than once in a parking lot to text and then get going again....

I'd like to say I'll own this one for a while..... but come this time next year they will be offering up the 64 bit snapdragon 810 and I'll be all excited again for no reason..... :-\

I guess the reason I say that I will own this for awhile, is that this is the first premium Nexus device they have produced. And if the camera and the rest work out to be best than expected. I will keep this phone. While the N5 is a good phone, it still has short-comings. This phone does not. It is premium. That is not to say that this time next year I won't be clamoring for the newest edition of the Nexus and it's 64bit goodness. If the update is a minor one to Android, I may stick with this beast as Motorola Nexi don't come along very often....

I agree... This time around it does look like Google finally went back to a more Premium device... I love my Nexus 5 as well and you are correct it has it's short comings.... So far the early hands on with the Nexus 6 are the camera is top notch and the build quality is just as top notch... I've read a few other articles about the bands and radios that should make this thing a beast connectivity wise as well.....

Look forward to having this thing in my hands.... I know preorders start October 29... but I wonder how much longer after that they will ship??? The new Nexus player is saying 4 weeks after they just started taking preorders... I don't recall seeing a Nexus 6 FCC filing yet so hopefully it's not 3 - 4 weeks after October 29....
