I haven't seen anyone else talking about this or heard of a resolution, so I thought I'd stir the pot again.

I use smart actions to disable cellular data when the screen is locked. Still many times I have to toggle airplane mode to get data to come back after I unlock the screen. Has anyone had this problem and solved it? Or is everyone sitting around toggling airplane mode just like me?

Sorry if this is a repost, but other than that I love this phone. So if I could only get rid of this issue I would have the perfect phone. Thanks for any help.

I have smart actions do the same thing, but the data always comes back. Maybe try a reset?

Yeah, I can understand that. Did you try disabling smart actions and then enabling it again?

Mine does the same. Factory reset did nothing. It was fine rill the 1st data outage early December and has never been the same since

I have the same Smart Action set and it's pretty rare that the data doesn't come back on with the screen. Mostly when I'm in a spot that doesn't have good signal.

OP, the exact same thing happens to me since the first data outage.

I created a smart action called data
Toggle: screen = on
action: cellular data = on

Disable that action, then go into settings and set cellular data ON. (Toggle the setting OFF then ON just to be sure.) Then re-enable your action.

I have noticed my Cellular Data is slow to enable (Icon goes from White to Blue) when I leave my home (I have Home Smart Action). It's frustrating if I really want to use my Data but it manages to come back over time (1 minute or so).

Should I be concerned?

Definitely. The white color is a signal that the phone is afraid to go outside, and since this is "Smart Actions" we're talking about, it might be wise to stay home.

I didn't answer your question. No, there is nothing to be concerned about. If you have an action that connects to WiFi at home, like mine does, then the WiFi connection may hang on for some distance after you leave the house before it drops, the rule ends, and 4G comes up. Then it has to establish a connection, and how long that takes may depend on the signal strength.

Another thought: I'm not sure the cellular icon turns completely blue until there is activity on the connection. Maybe absence = OFF, white = connected and ready, blue = ON and active. It may be that nothing is using data during most of that minute, and then some process gives a ping on the cellular line and it goes blue. But I'm just speculating about that.

Too bad Moto didn't provide more and better documentation for this great phone.

Don't really know. I know the one I linked to was created/posted by Motorola (for what that is worth).:D
