I just recently purchased the G6+ Amazon Prime edition and have an odd issue I've never seen with an unlocked phone. When I check for updates, it will come back with a message that says "your phone is not registered yet". I'm using this phone with cricket wireless service.
Dealing with LG on this has been a nightmare. After dealing with 6 different customer service agents , it's pretty clear that LG customer service agents have no clue what an unlocked phone is supposed to be about and they have zero knowledge about even the availability of these Amazon phones. One agent tried to tell me that the phone is an international model and has no ability for the second year warranty. None of the agents could even pull up my device imei. 5 out of 6 told me that the carrier had to register the phone and provide the phone updates, which is a flat out non truth for an unlocked phone. The updates are supposed to come directly from the manufacturer.
After all this, if the phone can't be updated and can't qualify for the extended warranty it will go back.
Anyone come across these issues and figure out a solution?
Thanks in advance.
