Amazon fire stick won't use my wired connection?

Hi, hope you can help. My Amazon firestick 2nd generation won't recognize the wired connection I setup using the otg cable. It keeps wanting to ue the wireless connection. I am fairly sure it is hooked up properly, but no wired connection comes up under networks. So, hope you can assist, thanks for listening, psongman

Are you sure it's 2nd gen? 1st gen doesn't have option. Does your remote have the Alexa mic button? Gen1 doesn't have that either.
