Well Amazon announced it ... now the question is do you want one? :).

I personally am in love with my Chromecast still as I am able to watch my Netflix and other things (like Amazon Prime Video) by using the Chromecast extension on Chrome.

It will be interesting to see what Amazon can bring to this device.

Interesting device. I have a roku 2 xs now, and see no need to upgrade. But if it dies then I would consider it.

I have an old roku 2 that was having problems, so I got a Fire TV and am very happy with it. I'm also using Plex to stream my own content that I do not want to put onto the Amazon cloud.

Want one? I bought one! Got it on Sunday. ;) So far so GREAT!

I have something of an hoarding approach to streaming TV boxes, I have apple TV's, Google TV's and chromecast's spread around the house so I'd really like to get a Fire TV, especially as none of the others help me watch Amazon Prime Video.

I'm in the UK so will wait for it to come out here but somehow I don't think it will be the 60 ish GBP that 99 USD price point converts to though. I'm going to the states in the summer, if it isnt out here then I'd be tempted to bring one back but I'm not convinced it will load my UK prime account if I did.

Wow, this forum isn't very active, but yes, we bought our first Amazon Fire TV around the time this thread started (April 2014) or so and we've loved it since day one. It blows away any other streaming device we've had before or since. The Fire TV's remote is the most fantastic remote of any TV-watching device I've ever used, it's just so intuitive. It's the only remote on which I don't mind pecking my login credentials off an onscreen keyboard, because the remote is so responsive that you can do it very quickly. The interface is nice and clean (although granted, Amazon-centric, but once you learn where stuff is, not bad) and the speed is blazing fast, no waiting for apps or shows to load, ever. I can't wait to see how the new Fire TV, with a faster processor and more RAM, does (I hope to get it today).

We've actually tried a Roku 4 for the last 2 weeks, just to have a variety of devices and thus more options, but we're returning it today and getting another Fire TV. Compared to the Fire TV, the Roku and it's remote control are clunky and Roku's phone-based tech support is an exercise in frustration, talking to people who speak English, but with thick accents (it took one tech 15 minutes to take down my name, email address and phone number -- I am NOT exaggerating!) who read pre-defined steps off a list. Amazon's help is US-based and are knowledgeable, they bent over backwards to help me solve a streaming issue with Hulu.
