Last night I was quite disapointed when I thought I would boot up my Amazon Prime video and discovered it wouldn't stream through Chrome.

It said incompatible format.

Does anyone know of a work around?

Yes, install Dolphin Browser and Flash. It works.

I cannot do it either. I am on Windows 7. The Amazon Video will cast fine inside the browser windows but on the TV the video area is black. I think Amazon video is streamed using Silverlight player and chromecast tab casting does not support silverlight yet.

I just received my Chromecast this afternoon and played around with Amazon Instant Video for a bit. I had no problem casting The Dome, but when I tried to Cast Family Ties, it wouldn't cast. I suspect that different videos from Amazon play in different plugins.

Try uninstalling Silverlight and then when you reopen Amazon Prime, choose the option to use Flash instead.
