Amazon Music app, gray checkmark, can't download songs

I've always been able to download purchased songs from Amazon MP3. Amazon Music seems like a different beast altogether. Some of the songs have a gray checkmark by them and when I long press them, there is no download option in the context menu.

Automatic Download is checked and Download Over Wifi Only is unchecked in the options. I also tried refreshing my cloud library, as this used to trigger downloads. No joy.

Is this some kind of new restriction?
