Amazon music transfer from phone to android auto

Is there a trick to clear out what you have been listening to on your phone when switching to android auto?
I will be listening to a podcast on amazon music. I will close amazon music app and get into car. Android auto will start up. I will select a playlist to play. After the song completes or I skip ahead, the podcast I was listening too earlier will start to play instead of continuing the playlist I selected.
Very frustrating.

Welcome to Android Central! Does this happen with any other music services? (You should be able to test with YouTube Music.) If not, then it may be a problem specific to Amazon Music, in which case I'd send feedback to Amazon from within the app's settings.
