Anandtech article rips Pixel

Keep dreaming about the lowering of price on Googles part or Verizon. This phone wants to be on par with iPhone and you would never see them lower their price on that. IMHO

let all the hating begin... I want to buy a 2nd Pixel XL. Just hoping all the "negative" reviews will convince Google or Verizon to lower it's price by at least $300(without 24-month DPP restriction)
So the Pixel should be cheaper than the OnePlus 3 even though it's better across the board?

Yes, please. :)

I ended up grabbing two Galaxy S7 from Best Buy because I couldn't refuse the $222 price tag.

If the Pixel drops by just $200, I will lose my will to resist and get another one. I can't imagine the Pixel selling that well.(based on what the Verizon corporate store manager has been telling me, as well as the number of thread views/replies on this forum, as well as Google's own Pixel forum section) Which is all fine with me, I want another Pixel and i want it cheap. :D

I'm just surprised it faired so poorly. The device is so fast and smooth I find it hard to believe the benchmarks.

It's amazing as to how different so called 'professional' reviewers, can come to very different conclusions about the same device. I have seen mostly positive reviews about the Pixel. My only current concern, is this issue with dropped calls on band 4. I live in South America too, where most complaints have been coming from, although, there have been some in the U.S. as well.

Isn't to you or isn't to anyone?

I currently own an S7 edge, S6 edge, axon7, iPhone 6s,galaxy note 2&4. (i know, why you ask) . I find most of them offer a better experience than the pixel EXCEPT, pixel is a tad faster but in real world applications, you won't notice . Plus it's lacking in to many flagship extras. No memory expantion, no environmental protection, God awful bezels. Hell, for $399.00, the ZTE axon 7 is a much better buy. Its only drawback is low light camera performance. It has hifi dac amps and dolby atmos which makes it the very best for sound of any smartphone. Why go on. I just don't think its worth it. Maybe if it were priced under $500.00, it would be just ok. By the way, its AI isn't any different than on any of my other Android phones.

It is very accurate, there are just some that are more accurate. I out a quote from the review in an earlier post that explains it, but it's basically just a very good display in a very steep competition so on w chart with the best displays available, it looks average.

Agreed... the Anandtech review I believe said the DeltaE for the sRGB mode was 2.4ish, which is not as good as some phones but a DeltaE below 3 makes it very accurate in the grand scheme of things.

The reason I asked is because another way to phrase "the Pixel isn't worth the money" is to say, "A phone that is arguably the best available isn't worth the pricetag, despite it being the same price or cheaper than it's closest competition". So you shifted to including the Axon 7, which tells me you're making an argument that it isn't the best value out there, rather than what I thought you might have been getting at. Thanks for clarifying.

I disagree with most of your negatives :).

Given how some are so against it...and its physical stuff (bezels...blah blah blah)...why on Gods earth did it get bought in the first place?

We buy phones in packages, not as a list of features we want. There are things about the Pixel I would have done differently. Here's a list of the ten things that are most important to me: Security, Display Quality, Great Battery Life, Great Camera, Great Performance, Updates (longevity and no waiting), a clean UI, On Screen Buttons with rear FPS, Works on Verizon, large internal storage with no SD card. So with that list, the S7 Edge, LG V20, iPhone 7+, HTC 10, Moto Z Force are off the short list as are all midrange phones, though the Axon 7 would be my favorite midranger (I haven't tried the Moto Z Play yet). If the Pixel XL didn't exist, then the 6P would still be the best phone on the market by my preferences.
