After having 16 hours battery life since I got the phone when it first came out, during the past week I'm only getting 10, at most. Out of the blue, battery life got worse. I uninstalled the only app I installed in the mean time and still nothing... It seems to be a Samsung thing on all my phones so far (s3, 5,6,7) where battery is really good for six months and then it plummets

That sounds as if you use the last ounce of power you can get before recharging it. Six months is great for that kind of misuse. If you'd cycled the battery when you got it, then NEVER let it go below 40% before recharging it, it would probably last longer. I still get better life from my 11 year old Motorola V551 battery.

What is the best way to "Cycle" the battery on a new phone?

I always try to charge my phones before they reach 50%.

I have been using Samsung phones for past 2 years. Battery life has always remained consistent. On my S6 edge, it got better with time.

I've had samsungs since the S2 and there is a gradual deterioration in battery life but over a long time span. Many recharges. Are you in a poor signal area?
