DAMMIT!

Got a hairline scratch on the screen somehow. No, I don't know how. No, I don't know when. It's been in my pocket. Or not in my pocket. RAGE!

OK. I feel better now.

It more than likely scratched in your pocket, which is probably the worst place to carry your device.

I hate to say this but are you absolutely sure it's a scratch?
I've thought the same thing with both my Captivate and now the Thunderbolt but when I sprayed some cleaner on a microfiber cloth and wiped the "scratch" disappeared.
Evidently it was something that the normal wipe cleaning I was doing wasn't getting off.

Im sure Phil knows the difference between dirt, and a scratch. :p

sorry to hear about this :(

I was paranoid something like this would happen to me too so I made sure and not pocket it until I got a steinheil on there.

On the bright side you get a new phone every other week so I'm sure you'll be okay :D

Lol. Still in 14 days period. Call CS and say something is not right. They will be glad to send you a fresh non scratch one :)

Every time I'm ready to rip off my screen protector (hate the extra glare) I read a thread like this and leave it on.

just tell them your getting 1hr on your battery but the right thing would be to deal with it.

I cant beleive you did that the screen feels so hard i would think it take alot to scratch it.

Phil, have you been wearing jeans lately? Jeans have those little copperish bits above the pocket (on jeans that have those little tiny pockets above the normal one) that stick out far enough to knick the screen if you put the phone in your pocket screen down (which I do).

For some reason I never noticed it as an issue until I got the Thunderbolt, because it's actually large enough to come in contact with those little bits of metal. I've actually started to be far more careful often pulling my pocket out a bit before dropping the phone in.

HA! same here! never noticed with my OG Droid, but every time I pull the tbolt out or put it back in my pocket i have to be super careful. Worst is when I'm sitting!

This is one of the main reasons I'll always keep a screen protector on it. It's so easy to hit that damn rivet.
