Android 10 and Google weather app?

Used to be able to get the Google weather app on my S10. Now that I'm on Android 10, and search for "weather" in the Google app, when the weather comes up it doesn't have "add to main screen" choice, or the three dot menu that let you add the weather app to your main screen.

Is there something that I need to do to be able to put the Google weather app on my home screen again with Android 10? Or has this option just been removed? Really liked that app, it was simple and had the weather information I'm looking for on a daily basis.

I think you want a weather widget. Long press and go to widgets and scroll to weather and press and hold and drag to desired area.

No, I don't want a weather widget, I want the Google weather app...so that I can open it when I want weather information, not have it up all the time. The Google weather widget is there among the available widgets...but don't want that.

Like the poster above said, you can just open Google search, type weather and then click the three dots and add to homescreen.

No, as I said in my original posting, that doesn't open up, I don't get a 3 dot menu. I used to get that with Android P, but with Android 10, I get a flat display of the weather, without the above app-looking thing that I used to get with Android 9.

If others are seeing what they used to see on Android 9 with Android 10, then I have no idea how to get that back. Frustrating.

I appreciate the responses, by the way, I don't think that anyone's quite gotten what I'm trying to say yet . Please read my original posting if there are any questions about three-dot menus, or whether I've searched for "weather" in the Google app .

I think he wants the physical google weather app. Much like having wunderground, or yahoo weather as a separate app. I'm not sure how to do this since I use the "At a glance" google widget and tap the temperature on that which opens the weather in the Google app. Im not sure you can separate the weather from the Google App without the use of a widget.

Edit to add: I tried what the other guys said to do up top and it is about as close to I think what OP is looking for. OP hit the 3 dots next to the name of your city here and select add to homescreen. It isn't a widget but a shortcut to the local weather.

I found a way to add a built-in weather app, but I think that it's a different one...you put the weather widget on your home screen, and tap it. That brings up a weather app. One of the settings available for it is "add icon to home screen", which I did. You then get an icon for a weather app. It's a different icon than the one that I got in Android P, and the look and feel of that weather app is not like what the previous one was. Not good enough, and not what I was expecting from previous use.

Anyways, I've tried lots of weather apps now, and have settled on "Carrot". Turning off all the sound and the political component helps to keep it from being the weather app that insults you . The look and feel is at least fairly easy to live with, and has the weather information I'm looking for.

Not happy with having lost the nice, simple Google weather app, but I guess that I can get by with this one. The problem for me with most of the weather apps is that they try to present way too much information, so what you really want is scattered throughout the app. At least the Carrot weather app has the current conditions, hourly, and 10-day forecast all on the main page. Good enough, I guess.

I tried it just to see if it worked and I got the 3 dots and the options to add to home screen. Weird it went away for you.

Yep working the same for me on 10 as it did on 9, 8, and 7.

Hi folks,
I just purchased S10+..and am wondering if there is a way to have "active" weather on the lock screen. So that if it is snowing or raining it will show rain or snow falling on the screen, trivial I know but it is a feature that I liked having previously.

I loved having that on my HTC phones back in the day. I would see snow falling and a windshield wiper when it was raining. I would love to have that again.

I used to love that HTC thing also! Personally, I have tried to find other clock/weather apps that would do the same thing, but I haven't seen anything that works the same.
