I agree you can only see it when you expand the notification area.. only silent mode shows when it's not expanded

Yeah I won't be doing that just to check for vibration mode. It IS interesting to know you can see it pulling down the notification shade though.

Yeah. Same with alarms. When I would set an alarm I would always see the little alarm clock. Now that's gone as well, unless you expand the notifications

This has been bothering me since I got A12. Really hope it's a bug that gets fixed and not actually intended as a "new feature."

The Android designers tweak notifications way to much. I hope it's just an extended test. I like the cleaner look when I don't need to see those notifications but when I want to see them I'm annoyed I need to open the notification shade.

I think I'd prefer a user setting to do what Google did in A12

Yep, same here. Silence doesn't show in the status bar at top (even when you pull down for notifications).

And I'm certain it did (without pulling down) when I was testing the vibration indicator, so this seems to be an artifact of the November security update.

I always forget my phone is on vibrate now lol.
Not a big fan of 12 at all really.

I would strongly recommend everyone to send feedback to Google about this through the Help & Feedback menu in the system settings. It may seem futile, but they do listen to complaints and advice if they get enough feedback.

I just did my part and reported the problem to Google.
