Try it and find out. I've not seen that mentioned on the Android Beta website.People on Reddit are saying if you are in the 12L beta feature drop, you can opt out and then opt right back in and will be presented with a choice of both 12 and 13 betas. You can then choose 13 without a wipe. Is this true?
Yes, this is what I did. I was on the 12 beta and opted out. Then I immediately opted back into the beta, which gave me the choice of 12 beta or Android 13 beta. I selected 13 and then updated software in settings to pull the OTA beta 1 for Android 13. It did not reset my phone.People on Reddit are saying if you are in the 12L beta feature drop, you can opt out and then opt right back in and will be presented with a choice of both 12 and 13 betas. I'm glad to see Google changed the process.Yup. Jumped from the 12 to 13 Beta with no wiping of any kind. Smooth transition.

That's weird. I opted out of 12L and then opted into 13. Didn't make me wipe and so far it seems just as smooth. Granted I don't use it as my daily driver so idk what's not working but I'm going to play around and see what's changedI was on the 12L program for months. Everything worked. I attempted to switch to 13. To do This I had to opt out of 12L And opt back in to 13. I ended up getting wiped. Once I got 13 installed, everything worked except for phone calls. Texts still worked. I don't know how this is possible or what I did to cause this. I went back to regular 12 and everything is working great. I will wait until at least Beta 2 to try again.
Didn't Google mention now going between beta and public release it won't wipe the device? That's weird. I opted out of 12L and then opted into 13. Correct that's why I went ahead and updated. Not that I have anything on the phone that can't be restored. Just rather not go through with setting the phone up again lol.Didn't Google mention now going between beta and public release it won't wipe the device?
Glad they got this going lolCorrect that's why I went ahead and updated. Not that I have anything on the phone that can't be restored. Just rather not go through with setting the phone up again lol.
So far haven't noticed any issues, seems smooth as before on a 4A. Even my 3rd party launchers all seem to work properly. One wish would be for the material color styles to carry over to Nova and some other launchers, or just give us more customization freedom with the pixel launcher. Apparently this isn't much of an upgrade just some small tweaks. Like the added color options tho.
I doubt the next couple of Android versions will be more than just minor tweaks, it took them years to make the big changes in 12. They'll probably just listen to feedback and keep fine tuning... which is fine by me, I'd rather have a well refined, smooth operating OS on my phone than major changes every year.
