Hello,

While testing Android 15, we found out that there is a major impact on the user experience for our customers with regards to the dial function for the telephony. We are anticipating an extreme increase in support calls with Android 15.

Android 14 and below behavior:
  • Use app A non native phone app (app that is set as default phone app)
  • Start a call
  • Let's say customer is checking its email and then needs to do a call > clicks on native phone app as it has a quicker access
  • Dial a number via native phone app UI and call
  • Once the call started, app A is used

Since Android 15:
  • Use app A (app set as default phone app)
  • Start a call
  • Let's say customer is checking its email and then needs to do a call > clicks on native phone app as it is a quicker access
  • Native app is not allowing to dial a number (UI). --> impedes user's habit!
    • Either "not now", which closes the application
    • Or "Set as default", which we do not want.

In other words, Android 15 does not let our users use the embedded native dialer to launch calls for the active default dialer (app A). Clicking on "Not now", just closes the app. Our users are used to either use the native dialer or app A, as they have different features, depending on if they are connected to our server or not (private/business use case).

Can u help me?
