You have to reinstall Swype using the swype installer everytime you do an update. It works fine.

Although you have to be on the latest version of Swype Installer to do that. If you aren't on the latest version, you have to uninstall both and install the latest Swype Installer first.
 
So i have been living with the update for a week or two now and I have to say that my N1 seems less buggy. The SMS problem has not returned.

Also, the phone seems not to get stuck in processor loops which run the battery down super fast.

A small update, perhaps, but it seems to have made a performance difference for me.
