Android 5.1.1 Non-writable SD Card

Hello, I had a rooted Galaxy S5 (SM-G900W8) and I messed up something trying to install a custom boot animation, so I used SmartSwitch to update to 5.1.1, then my root broke (obviously). So I want to backup my data using an app but it won't let me write to my SD card. Can anyone help me?

OP Here, I just wanted to clarify after I updated my phone was fine except for root.

On an un-rooted phone, there is no, one, single app that can back everything up in the way that you can on a rooted handset with a custom recovery... a nandroid backup.
