Android 7.0 lock screen

I have my fingerprints saved on my Samung galaxy a5 2017 but when i use my fingerprint and lock my phone and unlock it again without my fingerprint it doesnt ask for a password even though i have a password and fingerprint security, cant i choose a setting where it always asks for my fingerprint or password at any given time?

Welcome to Android Central! What's the Automatically Lock interval set to? That's how long the phone waits after the screen turns off and before the phone locks. So if it's set to 5 minutes, that means if you wake the phone within 5 minutes of the screen turning off, you don't have to use your fingerprint or password.
