Is it weird that there is no Beta for Samsung's flagship phone? Or will they just released the final version on both the S8 and Note 8?

Not really. We can consider that hardware is nearly identical except for the S Pen and Dual Camera, both of which are probably adjusted at the kernel level and not part of core Android. With this in mind, it would probably be easier to just develop for the S8, then when you get that stable, add in the other stuff on top. It looks to me to be more stable that way. At least you know that if there are things that go wrong, you know which parts of the code are stable and fixed, and which ones to look at.

Apples done it for a while too for public users. I've been running them on my iOS devices for a while and no mistaken you are on a 'beta' lol and starts rough... but later versions get better. It's fun to play with the new features if you're willing to deal with the bugs.

Plenty of manufacturers. Samsung is doing it for the second time this year. S8 has a beta.

Beta? Where/who has ever released a beta for a phone?
Pretty much every manufacturer.

I would rather they test it out on the wee S8 first.

I think more people will be using their device as a tool rather than for posting pictures of their cats.
I would take stability over the ability to change the shade of my task bar etc.

( On this device anyway, I'm guilty of being a beta whoore on my play devices )
