Android 8 unlock screen

I have a Motorola e5 phone. In bright light it's nearly impossible to unlock the phone as I can't see the screen well. So far it appears that smart lock options don't work (finger print, face). I would try trusted device but I have nothing to pair to. Something like a key fob would be perfect but I not married to that idea. Any thoughts welcome

Welcome to Android Central! Is it too much hassle to unlock the phone using your fingerprint each time?
