I upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to an 8 last September... The Apple Music app worked, and still works, on my Samsung Note 8, android 7.1.1.
But... The Apple Music app has disappeared from the Google Play store in Canada. It can only be found on Google Play by looking up the app on a chrome browser, where it states it is not compatible with my phone.
In the app review comments, other rate it a one and regret it is gone.
Apple has not responded to reply to my inquiry about the Android Apple Music app.... I don't dare uninstall Apple Music, for I doubt I will be able to reinstall it.
No recent news stories about the app have been written. Has Apple abandoned Android and permanently discontinued it's music service? I highly doubt it. The music service available on Android generates ongoing monthly revenues... But maybe Apple doesn't want to risk losing Apple phone hardware buyers... Are Apple and Android at war over in app purchase revenue sharing?... No chance.
It may also be that Android OS fragmentation is to blame. Maybe once my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 gets Oreo, the Apple Music app will reappear in the Google Play store.
I do enjoy iTunes through the Apple music app. I did upload my (since discarded) cd collection to iTunes, and I used to buy a tonne of albums through iTunes. For the past year or two I've subscribed to the iTunes monthly subscription.
Anything? Apple Music is presently dead on Android through the Google Play store in Canada.
I'd appreciate your help finding an answer. Apple has refused to reply to me.
